Score Thursday "W" After Tuesday Washout

Thursday, June 23, the Toledo Hawks "Gold" squad resumed action after encountering a massive downpour before their Tuesday night game.  Against the Genoa Rampage at Bowman Park, Hawks bats rung up 11 early runs and a quartet of pitchers mellowed the Rampage in a 12-0, score-shortened 5-inning deluge.  This onslaught took place after Mother Nature's power demonstration earlier in the week, when a game between both Toledo Hawks teams (Black and Gold) never got started due to a sudden and violent thunderstorm swooped into Toledo.

4-0 Weekend for the Gold

On Father's Day, the Gold birds from Toledo got more great starting pitching, and some timely hitting, enabling them to score a doubleheader sweep of the Allegheny Athletics.  After a late comeback allowed the Hawks to swipe the first game by a 3-2 score, they jumped out to an early lead in game two, then rode home to a 4-1 victory.

Team Enjoys Pair of Saturday Shutouts

Gold Team 3-0 in Toledo League

As in the Tuesday night contest a few days before, the Gold Hawks' pitching provided a solid performance in a 4-2 Thursday (June 16) victory over the Black Swamp at Bowman Park.  However, while the crafty slants of the Swamp lefty may have limited the overall Gold rush, the Hawks put enough points on the board with some timely swats.
