The National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF) Colligate is proud to announce the 2008 scholarship winner, Ryan Mouch. The scholarship was presented on Nov. 28th 2008, by Aaron Myers, Toledo NABF commissioner. Mouch’s team, Ohio Monarchs Gold, won this year’s NABF 2008 College World Series. The Monarchs Gold is the first Toledo team to win the NABF College World Series.

The NABF, founded in 1914, has awarded a scholarship each year since 1985, endowed by the executive director emeritus and his wife, Ronald and Irene McMinn who the scholarship named after. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, participate in federation events, and must be sponsored by a NABF franchised member association.

Mouch graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. John’s Jesuit High School in Toledo, Ohio, with a 3.9 cumulative GPA. He played baseball four years, staring 2 of his 3 varsity years, and earned a spot on the All-Academic Team in the League. Mouch played summer baseball for the Black Swamp Baseball Club. He also found time to play basketball and soccer.

Mouch currently plays as a starting second baseman for Oberlin College, starting 31 of 40 games last year, and ranking 4th on the team with a batting average of .296.  He is majoring in history and engineering, and holds a 3.0 GPA. After graduation, he plans to either teach, coach, or pursue a master’s degree in engineering.
