Monarchs Gold Has Perfect Week With 6 Wins

The Monarchs Gold had a perfect week by winning 6 straight games, including two wins over top ranked JL Thomas on July 5th.

Gold started their week on Tuesday (6-30) with a decisive win over NWO Dirt Devils 18 to 1 in five innings. Gold had 11 hits and the pitching was led by Josh Stidham (no hits) and relieved by Garcia, Kuebler, and Peffley holding the Dirt Devils to only 2 hits. McFarland (3 hits), Cappeletty, and Kuebler led the offense with 7 of the 11 hits.

On Thursday Gold won over Ohio Legends 6 to 0. Nate White held the Legends to 4 hits in 5 innings and Henneman and Kuebler closed out the shut out. Gold scored the 6 runs on 5 hits. Brian Bilius, Adam Yunker (3b), Jared King, and Eric Yunker accounted for the Gold hits.

On Saturday the Ohio Orioles came to town and suffered losses to Gold in the first game 9 to 2 and the second game of the double header 7 to 6. Josh Stidham pitched an excellent 6 innings allowing only 1 earned run on 4 hits in the first game. Peffley closed the game out. Ben Kauder, Brian Bilius, Cory Lehman, Bret Howard, Cory Hornyak, Tristan Peffley, and Adam Yunker all had hits for that game.

The second game on Saturday was much closer (7 to 6). Ben Kauder pitched awesome allowing only 3 hits and no earned runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. The offense was led by Cory Lehman going 3 for 4 with a double, Adam Yunker 2 for 4, with Cappeletty, and Peffley accounting for the remainder of the hits.

On Sunday Gold played the Tri-State League leading J L Thomas and won both games. Gold hammered JL in their first game 15 to 3, and finished the second game 5 to 2. Colin Meinzer was strong on the mound for the Gold the first game pitching a complete game allowing only 3 hits. Cappeletty led the offense with a 3 run smash over the right field fence along with another hit and 5 RBIs. Brian Bilius, Casey Winchowski, and Eric Yunker all had two hits with a double; Cory Lehman had a pair of singles.

In the second game the score was tied at two until Gold rallied in the bottom of the 6th with three runs. Matt Kaighan pitched well for five innings holding JL to 2 runs, and Tim Corby closed out the last two innings. Cory Hornyak was hot with the stick pounding three doubles with Ryan Mouch and Tristan Peffley hammering two hits each for the offense.

Monarchs Gold improves their record to 15 and 6 and remains undefeated in the Toledo League.
