Defiance’s Alex Timofeev gets first team all-league |

Defiance College baseball player Alex Timofeev (Clay) earned his first All-HCAC award, after being tabbed as an Honorable Mention selection while playing first base during his junior year.
The Oregon native developed into one of Defiance’s top offensive weapons and ended the year with a .336 batting average, .385 on-base percentage, .482 slugging percentage, eight doubles, two home runs and 27 runs batted in. Timofeev set new career highs in nearly every offensive category and did his best work in non-conference action, where he led the Yellow Jackets with a .432 average, .463 on-base clip, .595 slugging percentage and sparkling 1.058 OPS. Timofeev has a .308 collegiate career batting average as a junior with one more year to play.
Timofeev was starting first baseman of the 2007 Clay Eagles baseball program that made a run at the state tournament.
He played for the Ohio Monarchs summer collegiate program for the past two season and will compete again this summer in his final season. |

The Monarchs mourns the passing Chad Meyer (Defiance, Ohio) who was a third baseman on the Monarchs Blue baseball team. Chad lost his heroic battle with cancer Friday morning.
Chad had the chance to receive his bachelor's degree in commencement ceremonies held last Sunday. He was in teacher education majoring in social studies and minoring in physical education. Despite his illness, he still managed to make the dean's list with a 3.5 GPA last semester.
Meyer played with last year on the Blue team, he played in 45 games last year with a batting average just under 300 . He was an inspiration to his teammates and showed courage and character throughout his journey.

Ohio Monarch Blue defeated the Mifflin County Stars in their first game at the NABF CWS with a 14 – 5 win.
In the second game the Monarchs blue lost to Brunswick Express 7-6 in 12 innings of play. |

Oregon, OH - Sunday, July 12th was another sunny day at the ballpark. This time the Monarchs Blue took on the Youngstown Metros for two games.
Cody Fisher was the starting pitcher for game one. Fisher pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up 3 runs, walking one and striking out six, 4 of which started the game. Corey Cannon came on to finish out the third and pitched through 3 batters in the 6th inning. Cannon allowed two runs, walked one and struck out two. Ethan Salsbury completed the 6th and finished up the game. Salsbury gave up two runs, walked one and struck out one.
