Black Hawks take two from the Allegheny Athletics |

The Allegheny Athletics from the Pittsburg area were in town to take on the Black Hawks at Bowman field on Saturday 6/18. The Black Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one on a bomb from Matt Vannett (BGSU/ Bowling Green) that was good for 3 RBI’s.
After the visitors cut the deficit to two after 4 innings the Black Hawks generated 2 insurance runs in the bottom of the 5th for the 6-2 win in the opener. The Black Hawks were led offensively by Matt Vannett (2B, HR 4 RBI) and Jordan Schwerer (Northern Kentucky / Whitehouse Oh) who was 2 for 3 with a double. On the hill, Corey Cannon (Kalamazoo / Blissfield, Mi) went for 6 innings giving up 1 ER on 6 hits to earn the win. Jeff Davis (Owens CC/ Toledo) came in for 1 inning of work.
In the second game of the day, the Black Hawks wasted little time as they scored runs in the first 4 innings to take a 8-0 lead after 4. John Fortunato (Case Western / Toledo, Oh) kept the visitors off balance all day and pitched the complete game giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits. He issued 2 walks and struck out 5 to earn the 11-2 win. Offensively the hawks were led by several players as the team amassed 11 hits along with 4 walks. Conlon Poncsak (Ohio Wesleyan/ Bryan Oh) was 2/3 with 2 RS, Sam Fischer (Adrian/Monclova, Oh) was 2/3 and 2RS and Nick Broyles (Bluffton/Toledo, Oh) was 2/4 with 5 RBI.
