The Pittsburg Pandas were in town for the Father Day games on Sunday at Bowman Park. The first game started out with a solo blast by Nick Broyles (Bluffton/ Toledo) to put the home team up 1-0 after the first inning.
The Black Hawks could not sustain the momentum and gave up 6 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to fall behind 6-1 after 3 innings. The Panda’s pitcher kept the Black Hawks off balance all day and threw a complete game 4 hitter and issued only one walk. The Black Hawk starter Nick Rodesky (Bluffton / Bowling Green, Oh) was not as fortunate as he issued 6 hits and 5 walks in 2 1/3 innings of work. Jordan Schwerer (NKU/ Whitehouse) came in for relief and after an initial walk, kept the home team in it with 3 2/3 of 3 hit ball. The Black Hawk offense just could not get going and the final was 6-2.
The second game was a copy of the first game for the offense as the Black Hawks could only muster 6 hits in the game. Tyler Glass (Glen Oaks CC/ Petersburg, Mi) and Jay Yost (Baldwin – Wallace/Tiffin, Oh) were both 2 for 3 to lead the offense. Tyler Glass was the starter on the hill and did a good job of holding the Black Hawks in the game as he gave up 2 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings of work. The final was 4-1 in favor of the visitors.
The Black Hawks are now 7-5 in the league with an overall record of 10-5 and will return to Bowman Park again next weekend with games against the Shannon fence and Chardon Blizzard teams.
