The Toledo Black Hawks opened their weekday action on Thursday at Bowman Park against Bedford with a bang. The Black hawks scored 4 runs before the first out of the game on their way to a six run first inning. After a scoreless 2nd and 3rd innings the Black Hawks put together several hits in the 4th inning to score three runs and added a single run in the fifth. John Fortunato (Case Western/Toledo) was on the hill for the Black Hawks and kept the Bedford hitters off balance for 4 solid innings of 1 hit ball. Jeff Davis (Owens CC/ Toledo) pitched a perfect 5th inning and the game was called due to the mercy rule in the 10-0 victory. Offensively the Black Hawks were led by Nick Broyles (Bluffton / Toledo), Tayler Glass ( Glen Oaks CC / Petersburg Mi) and Jay Yost ( Baldwin – Wallace / Tiffin) all with 2 RBI’s as the team amassed 12 hits. The victory raises the season record to 3-2 and the Black hawks will host the Canton terriers and Ohio Glaciers this weekend at Bowman.
